January 9/10
Annual Boy Scout Weekend. We welcome the Boy Scouts once again at Thendara. Join them as they clean up Thendara, doing as many chores as are available to them at camp. Bernadette Raucher and Salvina Scerri can always find something for everyone to do at Camp. Work, work, work is the motto of the weekend. Contact them by email to register or call Salvina before Thursday, January 7th.
Sunday, January 10 - Greystone to Ardsley via Old Croton Aqueduct, 2B7. Moderate hike mostly on Old Croton Aqueduct but also on several side trails in nearby parks which are climbs. First to Untermeyer Park, then Lenior both are 150 ft. climbs. Both have great view point. Afterward we go north via a series of interconnected parks & return to the OCA, finish in Ardsley. Snow, ice may limit route or cancel. Trans. GCT: take 11:20 train to Greystone, arr. 11:57. Drivers park near the Greystone Sta. (Google Map: Warburton & Harriman Ave. zip 10701) (Do not park in commuter lot!) Leader: Hal Kaplan. Hike message begins Wed AM. $3 fee.
January 16-17
Classic Camp Weekend. Come join Katie Walkden and Katya Hanson for a classic camp weekend of hearty healthy food and peaceful relaxation. There will be plenty of time to enjoy happy hour appetizers before dinner on Saturday and you won't want to miss our classic camp breakfast and other culinary delights on Sunday morning. Opportunities for walks, hikes and relaxation await you. So if you just need a break to recharge your batteries, come join us! E-mail Katie or leave a message on her voicemail with a return phone number. RSVP by Jan 14th.
Saturday, January 16 - Camp Safety Workshop will be offered at 2 PM. Register by email to Katya Hanson by Thursday 14 January.
Saturday, January 16 - Skannatati Circular 3C9. Multiple vistas in central Harriman. Trail conditions will determine route. AMC hike with an early visit thru Thendara. Leaving Skannatati parking lot around 9:30 am or Thendara around 10:15 am. Come prepared dressed in layers, hiking boots and adequate water. Stabilicers, crampons or snowshoes may be necessary. Rain or extreme weather cancels. Call by 7 a.m. day of hike if in doubt. AMC Trans 1B. Leader: Bill Lee.
January 23-24
Winter Camp Weekend. Start the New Year out right with a brisk hike and relaxing dinner at camp. Join new host Jen Cartelli and veteran Kathy Haake. Bring your snowshoes or stablicers. Kathy will give the lodge key workshop on Saturday at 11am on Saturday. Jen will provide happy hour and lasagna dinner, including a hearty salad and wicked garlic bread. Kids and day hikers welcome. Register with Jen Cartelli.
January 30-31
No host scheduled. If you would like to host this weekend you must follow the winter hosting procedure and secure a permit before coming to camp. Contact Manny Sanudo or Kathy Haake by Wednesday noon.

Thursday, February 4 - Sapphire Trail and South 2C8. Meet: 10AM in hikers parking lot south of 17 and 17A intersection for shuttle to north trail head. We will hike about 8 miles past Indian Hill and Wildcat Mountain. Hikers must bring minimum of 2 liters of water, foot gear for ice, and also snowshoes if postholing is possible. Leader: K W Hanson (no calls after Wednesday noon).
February 6-7
Make your own Pizza – Winter Fun Weekend! Bring the kids! The road up to the lodge is great for sledding. We’ve tried it. No snow? No problem! With the help of an expert Boy Scout leader we’ll explore the woods around the lodge. We’ll warm up by the fire with hot chocolate, hot cider and cookies. Dough and toppings will be provided for this kid’s dinner favorite. Cooks of all sizes will be granted access to the kitchen to create their own pizza. Sunday hike around Turkey Lake led by Marek Stykos at 11 a.m. Please register by email with hosts Monika Bellucci and Kathy Haake, or you can call Monika until Thursday noon. Pray for snow!

Sunday, February 14 - Hastings Circular 2B7. Entirely within interconnected suburban parks: Rowleys Bridge, Old Croton Aqueduct, Lenoir Preserve, Draper Park, Burke Estate, Hillside Woods, Zinnzer Park & back to the diner near the Hastings Station. Inclement weather or ground conditions may cancel. Trans. GCT: take 11:20 AM to Hastings, arr. 11:57 AM. Drivers park/meet in northbound commuter lot. Leader: Hal Kaplan (hike message beginning Sat AM.) (Google Map: Southside Ave zip 10706). $3 Fee
February 20-21
Hiker’s Weekend. A weekend for hikers and those that love them. Hearty food, early dinner, and early breakfast to allow hikers plenty of time to hit the trail early. Register with host-in-training Cynthia Falls by Wednesday, February 17 prior to 5 pm. Co-host Jim Conlon (no calls or emails).
February 27-28
Winter Weekend. Come and frolic in the snow and warm yourself by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate, with your host Joseph Selch for this winter weekend with a generous happy hour and dinner on Saturday night. There will be breakfast and a trail lunch provided on Sunday morning for those who are spending the night at camp. (For those who do not want a trail lunch please let Joe Selch know at the time you register.) Register with Joe by Thursday, February 25.

March 6-7 CANCELLED DUE TO SNOW!
There has been no snow plowing of our driveway, and even the front gate is buried under several feet of snow.
TMC members should not attempt to "drop in" this weekend. There simply is no access to the house, and there are lots of downed trees all through the Park.
Welcome in the spring weekend. Come join old timer Len Magnus and new host, Beth Malone, for a relaxing and joyous weekend at Thendara, just a tad before the start of another lovely Spring season at Thendara. We'll have the usual Happy Hour on Saturday, featuring wine, cheese and crackers, a Best of Brooklyn dinner. Then we'll relax for the evening, listening to music, and/or doing a gate walk or road walk to Tiorati circle and back. Weather permitting, on Sunday there will be a 2-3 mile hike along the Hurst Trail to the Shelter at the top of the ridge and back to camp, led by Len, (or a designee, if I can get one.) Join us in ushering in the coming of Spring for 2010!! RSVP to Len Magnus by no later than Wednesday, March 3rd.

Pre-St.Patties Day weekend. Join Veteran Host Steve O & New Host Bartender Mike Redden for a fun-filled pre-St.Patties Day weekend. We hope to have some snow to play in and then warm up with some Corned Beef & Cabbage!! Oh and let's not forget about the Jameson’s!! Register with Steve O by the night of Wed., March 10th.
Sunday, March 14 - Scarboro to Tarrytown via OCA & Rockwood Hall Park 2B8. Scenic late winter walk using the Old Croton Aqueduct and a lunch stop on an overlook in Rockwood Hall Park. Then back on the OCA & finishing in Tarrytown. Snow or ice may shorten hike. Trans: take 11:20 AM Hudson Line to Scarboro. Drivers park in Tarrytown & join us on the 12:10 to Scarboro. We hike back to Tarrytown; coffee & food available near finishing point. For google location use Depot Plaza zip 10591. Leader: Hal Kaplan. (Hike message beginning Sat AM.)
March 20-21
Roll Your Own Party – Spring Equinox. Come celebrate Japan’s Shunbun No Hi (pronounced “Shoon Boon No Hee”) the day of equal light and equal darkness with Salvina and Marek. Hot Sake from the 3rd century Book of Wei, Sapporo Beer and traditional Japanese snacks will be served at Happy Hour.
Dinner: Roll your own vegetarian sushi! Everything will be provided from makisu rolling mats to true wasabi, fresh ginger, miso soup, dried nori, PILES of organic vegetables and instruction. Untraditional rollable delicacies like smoked gouda, fresh salsa, black beans and pesto will be on hand to widen your eyes and palette.
Breakfast: Tamajoyaki (rolled omelet), rice, miso soup and green tea. For Sunday lunch, sandwiches to travel.
Pack a musical instrument; there will be plenty of song opportunities. Kids welcome.
Sunday hike: Explore Pine Swamp Mine (loop estimated 4 miles) Bring a magnet and headlamp/flashlight. Register with Marek by March 15th. Co-hosted by Salvina Scerri.
Note: Due to the fact the food will be organic, prices will be slightly higher than average and this is vegetarian fare, so there will be no fish.

March 27-28
Relaxing Camp Weekend. Kick back with your hosts Jen & Steve Han and watch the snow melt. Okay, so that doesn't sound too exciting, but rest assured a good time will be had by all!!! Register with Steve (phone calls before 10pm please!) by noon Thursday, March 25. There will be a hike on Sunday leaving at 10:30AM.

Easter Weekend. Looks like Kathy Haake & Steve O are making this an annual tradition! So if you don't have any family plans, come celebrate this holiday weekend in Thendara style. Please register with Steve O by the night of Wed., March 31st.
April 10-11
Early Spring -Middle East Summit. The dining table, big and wide, is the only place on this planet, Israeli and Arab cultures and people can find solace. Let's share a feast of Israeli inspired and Arabic influenced dishes. Our intercontinental menu will include: Middle eastern appetizers, Chicken with olives, Chicken and Beef Kebob, Megadra (rice with lentils) and Yogurt, Sautéed Spinach, Baklava and Turkish Coffee. Nancy Dorn and Gilad Melamed will host the Summit. Register by emailing Gilad by noon of Thursday, April 8th.
Sunday, April 11 - Garrison-Arden Point & Sugar Loaf South 2B7. We use the Blue trail which eliminates the road walking to Sugar Loaf South. A short lunch at the Sugar Loaf view point, then back to Arden Point with its Hudson River views for a second short lunch. Afterward a water break at the North end viewpoint and then back to Garrison Landing. Inclement weather cancels. Trans: 5, BUT take 10:55 train. Drivers park/meet at commuter lot at noon. Leader: Hal Kaplan. Hike Message on answering machine beginning Saturday AM. (Driving directions via google map: Lower Station Rd zip 10524)
April 17-18
Annual Spring Clean-Up Weekend. Hosted by Kathy Haake and Barbara Prag. It’s time once again to spiff up camp for our busy spring and summer season. Join us for one day or the entire weekend – lots of tasks to do! Overnight fees waived for participants. Free happy hour to all who assist. Meals will be easy prep and clean up. Please inform host whether you plan to come for Sat or Sun or for both days. Contact Barbara by Thursday night to register for a day or the weekend.
